Germany lies in high income group with GNI per capita of 36,620 US dollars. The total population of Germany is equal to
82,411,440 approx. The unemployment in Germany has now fallen to lowest to last 18 years and the economic growth has been
sharply increased.
Germany is the largest economy in Europe and third in the world in nominal GDP with fifth rank in GDP. After the industrialization in the country, export of goods is one of the key factors in the wealth and prosperity of the country. This country is one of the top exporters of the world with more than one trillion dollar in the year of 2006. Germany service sector has a major contribution in the total GDP of the country and is about 70% of the total GDP. The main products of the country for export are in the field of auto mobile, metals, machines and chemicals etc. Germany is one of the biggest suppliers of the world in the field of solar technologies and wind turbines i.e. the natural resources of the power.
Annual trade fairs are organized in Germany in main cities like Frankfurt, Berlin etc. Among the fortune 500 companies, 37 companies are from Germany like Daimler, Volkswagen, Siemens, Deutsche bank and Allianz etc. The companies with largest employees are also from Germany like Bosch, SAP, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche, Adidas etc.
Germany is also a member of European Union (E U). Germany uses the currency Euro which is common in Europe. The monetary policy of Germany is controlled by the European Central Bank based in Frankfurt. The annual income and standard of living of Germans are higher than the other countries in Europe after unification in 1990. Eastern Germany is also going to be modernizing like West Germany. Germany has a strong opinion of European economical integration. The unemployment in Germany has significantly reduced in the recent years. It has now reached to 6% in West Germany and about 13% in East Germany.
The infrastructure of Germany:
Now Germany has become the European largest electricity consumer. Germany is world fifth largest consumer of energy and
power. So, it has to import a large amount of energy from other countries. Energy consumption of the country is more than
500 billion KWH, so, now the government realized that they will have to emphasize on the resources of energy which are
renewable. Some of them are solar, water, wind and biomass etc.
Now the government wants to reduce the import from other countries to less than 50% of the total demand of the energy in Germany. Germany wants to destroy all its nuclear power plants by 2021. The energy consumption of the country in 2006 includes 35% oil, 24% coal, 23% gas, 12% nuclear power, 1% wind and hydro powers and the rest from other resources of energy.
